Hi, i receive a lot of messages by people who want install GDIPP( cause GDI++ is crappy!!), so here is the good way:

➊ Install GDIPP 0.7.6 in Registry( not in services, you will see it during the installation) , download: code.google.com/p/gdipp/downlo…
➋ Copy the 2dll's in "C:\Program Files\gdipp" to "C:\Windows\system32"( for 64 users: 4 dll's: "sytem32"( for 64 bit dll's)+"syswow64"( for 32 bit dll's) ), like: img11.hostingpics.net/pics/423…
➌ Restart( done)

Edit ( 12 oct 2012):
Now, i use 0.9.1 version, it works better and no replacement of dll needed ( only install it and go..!), if you use Firefox or other: uncheck "material acceleration..." in Firefox ( or other) options!!
If some characters look a little craps in some applications: make an exeption in "C:\Program Files (x86)\gdipp\gdipp_setting.xml" with your notepad.

  • Watching: My screen

gdipp was good stuff, back in late 2011, but after a while, everyone just switched to MacType.

Actually not: hardware acceleration in IE9, for example, works with more that a half browser's operations.

Anyway, I like the original Windows way of rendering... If I would like Mac's type, I would buy Mac... but I bought Windows :)

this is crappy shit on a amd win7 x64 system. you only can install the 64bit.msi or the 32bit but not both and i've 32bit programs to. therefore i suggest mactype. it works perfect.

btw, GDIPP will not have any troubles with Windows8, will it?

Hi dafmat71, this is a good tutorial, but it's a little confusing with your description. You say that the 32bit dll's should be copied to syswow64 folder and 64bit dll's to system32 folder.
But your bat says:

copy *32.dll %WINDIR%\system32
copy *64.dll %WINDIR%\syswow64

ok, i remember now: in fact 32dll says that it's for sytem32 and 64 for syswow64!!
It's not a 32 bit file or 64 bit file, just name to place in correct folder!!

Shouldn't your bat file say:

copy *64.dll %WINDIR%\system32
copy *32.dll %WINDIR%\syswow64

that's the normal way to do it. System32 folder is for 64bit files and syswow64 is for 32bit files or ......?

no, finally you're right it can be a name it's a 32 dll and 64 dll!!
I'm a bit confused that nobody see it before, but im sure that the majority use it, place it, manually!!
To be honest, i recommand to use 0.9.1 version, no replacement needed!!
if you use Firefox: uncheck material acceleration in FF options!!

Is there any way to disable this and switch back and forth between the original Windows font and for example the font Wave 2.0 uses. I got the problem that sometimes letters seem to touch within a word, for example with "ms" the s seems to be too close to the m.

If you install gdipp in "services" you can stop the service!

No sorry, you must make a choice, let the installation ( gdipp) or uninstall it!
But for the moment, i use Wave too and so i not see a Font ( Ubuntu) problem!!
But if you will, i can change the font in Wave for you, just say me wich font you will and send me the msstyles!! ;)

Also notice the different look in Chrome and IE. I would prefer the IE font look. How do I change this?

you can make some exception, i mean: not use gdipp for some executable, go in program files/gdipp and open "gdipp_setting.xml" with the notepad, at the end of the page you will see the exception: so yoou put the executive name, like per example: wordpad.exe

Second one is the default Windows renderer it seems. If you want the IE font look, uninstall GDIPP and activate ClearType. Again, greyish text is probably a result of GDIPP trying to stick to the way the font was designed, which may result in grey text because there are no pixels where they are needed. You may be able to tweak that in GDIPP, but really you sound like what you want is the default Windows renderer (which nudges the lines to where pixels are). :)

Do you happen to know if the developers are still working on this project?

The last update was over a year ago. :(
